Herpes - Affects An estimated 80 Million In The US!
Sep 12th, 2008 | By Richard H Ealom | Category: Medicines and RemediesINTRODUCTION: Herpes is a very common infection caused by two different but closely related viruses. Simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) and Simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2). It infects the nervous system, modifying the DNA of the nerve cells supplying the skin through which it entered. It may also play a role in the spread of HIV, the virus that is said to cause AIDS. The virus is spread by touching, kissing, and sexual contact, including vaginal, anal, and oral sex. It is most contagious when sores are open and “weeping” until the scabs heal and fall off. Herpes is estimated to affect some 80 million people in America.
