Big and fresh lobsters with large claws are mouth-watering, not to mention the ones you get from the cold waters of the Atlantic Ocean, the finest dish that you’ll get from the state of Maine. It goes well with wine gift baskets with a refreshing Chardonnay; the combination is so perfect that you would love it. Your visit to this exotic place will be incomplete if you don’t have the meal of the yummy freshly boiled lobster and butter. The very idea of breaking the claws of the hard shelled lobster to devour the soft buttered meat will leave you licking your lips.

I keep my own rules while consuming lobster that I always stick to. It can be best had in the open. I hate to imagine sitting in a lush restaurant eating very politely cracking the lobster with the lobster crackers carefully not to make noise, sometimes resulting into a mess which could be really embarrassing.

A lobster dinner also must be preceded with fresh clam chowder, chock full with Maine clams in a creamy broth. A specialized gift basket complete with lobster bib would make a thoughtful gift. Clam chowder has been the staple on many a Mainer’s table for many years. It is a delicious concoction of milk or cream, butter and plenty of Maine clams with their briny liquid. A sprinkling of oyster crackers and that is a making of a complete meal

Now that my rules are out of the way, lets talk about the lobsters themselves. They are sold by weight as a pound and a half or two pounds; the typical size for a delectable dinner. Larger size lobsters are good for stuffing, in casseroles, or for lobster stew. A gift basket lovingly filled with a cooked lobster makes a wonderful housewarming gift. Sometimes lobsters are sold with just one claw as a single claw lobster. Lobster meat is very rich and satisfying. A lobster over two pounds will typically be too much for one person to eat.

Maine abounds with great choices as for where to get your lobster. Lobster pounds will often cook your lobster. You can eat it there (some have tables) or eat it outside. Having a gift basket with you will make transporting the cooked lobster easier, and you can place other goodies in the basket to round out the meal. Also in Maine are places called lobster in the rough dining. Simple, casual places to enjoy your fresh cooked lobster.

Lobsters in the rough restaurants are usually located near the ocean on a wharf, with plenty of picnic tables in the sunshine to eat your boiled lobster. Wine gift baskets work perfectly for these outdoor settings. Besides being able to enjoy this without the fussiness of an indoor restaurant, the ocean views are amazing.

The very smell of the salty ocean and the soft wind tickling your senses and providing you relief from the hot air, the gorgeous view of the harbor, with people all around gobbling their part are overwhelming. You also get to have lobster bibs to protect you from the mess you may create.
