Getting Started With Pug Training
Sep 9th, 2008 | By Jenny Donaldson | Category: PetsThere are many different Pug problems that need to be taken seriously into consideration by any Pug owner, whether they already own a pug or are just considering getting one. This is because Pugs require a lot more care and attention than most other breeds of dog, and it is important that they get this or else they will act out. There are ways of preventing this however, the best way being to go through with Pug training.
Successful training with a Pug really depends on how much they strive to meet their master’s approval and please them, and so basically the closer the dog and owner are the better results there will likely be. Pugs can usually be trained with little persistence and patience, and although there are dog training professionals available who will take on this work for the owner, it is a great opportunity for the owner to be able to spend more time with and bond with the dog and they should take advantage of this.
When it comes to Pug training, one of the most important things to remember is to never allow a Pug puppy to do something that would be wrong for them to do as an adult. Nipping on hands or jumping on people for instance, actions like this should always be stopped as soon as they are noticed so that the dog will know that these actions are wrong and will learn not to do them.
It is also essential that the owner make the dog learn who is in charge, and who the dominant one in the household is. Using consistency and being repetitive is going to be necessary to make sure that the dog is understanding what he is being taught and not only that but remembering it.
The bottom line, when it comes to Pug problems, is that training does not have to be difficult as long as the right techniques are implemented and the owner has patience. Praising the dog is always going to be important, as the dog will need to know when they are doing well.
Pug training can often be difficult especially due to Pug problems such as stubbornness, but it does not have to be this way. There are certain techniques that can be used to help with Pug training, and one of the most important tips here is to praise the puppy whenever they do something right.
Also keep in mind that Pugs will do anything for food and so if there is a certain command or trick that an owner is trying to teach their Pug and they do not seem to take, they should use food to bribe them into doing it. Training with a treat or toy is a great idea, because the Pugs respond so well to this.
All of the common Pug problems can be overcome as long as you are willing to put in the time and effort that is going to be necessary.
