Do not exacerbate any areas that have been deadly polluted by angling. Always use the right type of fishing bait and gear. You will also encounter limits on the number, size, and kind of fish that you can keep. It would be useless to check once you arrive, your equipments may not be suitable to fish in that area after all. Make sure you know what those restrictions are when you select your destination. If you plan on using a boat, research to see what kinds of watercraft are allowed where you are going to fish.
Some places are illegal to fish but do you why? It is okay if they are just protecting the wildlife, you will probably be safe anyway but if there are some hidden unknown dangers lurking around, your decision to trespass will only prove to be a big mistake or even fatal. As with hunting, safety is always the number one issue, so wear your life jackets and make sure the passenger in your boat does the same.
Take your time when removing bait or hooking. If you fish in unauthorized waterways, you can get into serious trouble. Keep in mind this checklist when going out to fish for any length of time: maps, flashlight and your cell phone.

Do everything you can to help make fishing a part of the activity in the next century. Always be respectful of the elements around you and strive to be a better fisherman at the same time.
